From the word

STAND YOUR GROUND!

"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God" (Hebrews 12:2).

There are times God shows you great visions for your life and then instructs you on what to do to accomplish them. However, on your way to do those things many people will try to discourage you from doing them. They will criticize the way you talk, walk and your lifestyle generally.

Let’s take a look at Elisha for a moment. Elisha followed Elijah until the latter was taken away into heaven by a chariot of fire. After Elijah was taken up into heaven, the other prophets mocked Elisha. “We’ll help you find your master. He has probably travelled without you,” they scorned. “Relax!” Elisha replied, unperturbed by their mockery.

Then he took Elijah’s mantle, and they, wondering what he was going to do with it, watched him from afar, as they couldn’t cross the river Jordan. When Elisha smote the river with Elijah’s mantle, the river suddenly parted in two and he passed through it. When the other prophets saw the waters of the river Jordan split wide open, they all began to shout in unison, “The Spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha!” which was what Elisha wanted in the first place. Those that criticized him were the first to pay him homage and herald the news to the whole city. They told everybody, “Hey! That guy has Elijah’s anointing.”

The psalmist said, “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God” (Psalm 42:1). I love what he likened his thirst for God’s presence to—a deer thirsting for water. This animal would do and risk just about anything to get water whenever it’s thirsty. And guess what, it’s almost always thirsty! So you see, when people try to keep you from what God has for you, just push them out of your way because you know what you want. Stay focused on it and by the time you get it, you wouldn’t need to tell anybody you got it; they will see it for themselves.
